Ministry of Health of Namibia Launches National EMTCT Plan

On  December 12, 2012  the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Ms. Petrina Haingura of Namibia (on behalf of the President of Namibia) launched the national EMTCT plan along with the 2012 National HIV Sentinel Survey Report. It is  an important milestone for the HIV programme as Namibia has now joined the global League of Nations pushing for elimination of new paediatric HIV infections and keeping their mothers alive. Based on current performance against standard PMTCT indicators, Namibia is within on track to achieve the virtual elimination goal by 2015.
